What is a Website?

Personally, I would define a website is the digital media prepared by an individual, entity or company, exposed in the world wide web to show certain information of products, profile and other relevant matters made available for sales and attention. In simple words, websites are online information. As far as I know and have seen, there must exist three (3) menus in a website.:
  1. the Home, where every browser is directed primarily and main information are addressed;
  2. the About Us, or the profile of a certain individual or entity is stipulated, how it started, what it does and how they do it; and
  3. the Contact Us, where details on how to get in touch with a certain individual or entity are indicated.
In a website, having a Website Contact menu, page or link is an added advantage, may it be email address, postal address, telephone number, fax number, mobile number as long as visitors to a site could get in touch with them and obtain appropriate responses from them. These website contact details enables sites and site owners more credible than those without. Email addresses are more commonly used as website contact than postal addresses. And there are a lot of popular mail servers online that offer free email services such as GMail, Yahoo and MSN. In this site's case, we use and recommend GMail.

Now there are different ways to do website buildup. Most of them are still built using the basic language called HTML. Readable codes but are tedious to prepare. There are better options such as WYSIWYG and Frontpage. Where all you have to do is prepare your posts and designs and the program does all the tedious HTML coding. For newbies, the most recommended package in website buildup are the website CMS or the Content Management System. Website CMS has a front-end (for visitors to view) and a back-end (for administrator to manage their site contents). In other words, its like creating your contents first and then points them to the pages
where they would be displayed while in pure HTML, every pages needs to have another HTML codes. There are lots of website CMS-based package online that are free, like Joomla, Drupal and Wordpress. In this site's case, we recommend Joomla.

Joomla, probably the best CMS package ever developed online. Its latest stable package is version 1.5.14 (as of this date), is bundled with free website templates. Having these three (3) website templates for Joomla package can start your website buildup days. Although there are a lot of free website templates online free to download, some of their elements are not that suited to your requirements and needs.
